What is it:
A potent retinol serum that delivers skin-renewing benefits via concentrated encapsulated retinol at 1.5% along with Vitamins C and E to moisturise and fight free radicals for maximum results with minimal irritation.
What is it formulated to do:
This technologically advanced combination of encapsulated retinol, and vitamins C and E, encourages the skin's renewal process with prime efficacy. It helps improve skin tone and texture, assists in collagen production, and reduces fine lines and wrinkles to create a vibrantly youthful and healthy complexion. The addition of Vitamin C and E minimizes redness and irritation, and mitigates the retinol's drying effects.
CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, SQUALANE, RETINOL, ASCORBYL PALMITATE, TOCOPHEROL, WATER (AQUA), PENTYLENE GLYCOL, POLYSORBATE 20, LECITHIN, BISABOLOL, ALCOHOL.
Usage: Shake well. Apply nightly to cleansed face. Use SPF protection during the day. If mild irritation or redness occur, use every other night until skin adjusts. Gradually build to nightly use. Best suited for normal to dry skin.
Review:
Peter Thomas Roth's Retinol Fusion PM ($63.20) is formulated with a high concentration of Vitamin A but because the Vitamin A is encapsulated, the retinol is released slowly and you therefore don't experience the dryness and irritation that Vitamin A products can cause. So you are still getting maximum anti-ageing benefits, without the tell-tale horrible peeling the day after.Retinol Fusion PM is packaged in an opaque jar (which will protect the ingredients from sunlight) and comes with a dropper, is a clear liquid and has an almost water-like consistency. The dropper houses a lot of product, so care is required when applying the product. The best way to apply is by ensuring that there is only a small amount of product in the dropper before fully taking the dropper out of the bottle. With Peter Thomas Roth's Retinol Fusion PM, a little definitely goes a long way! So use spraringly, and the 30ml bottle will last 3 months.
Because of its water-like consistency, after application your face will feel very oily, however, the product is absorbed almost immediately. You can then follow with your regular night time moisturzier, such as an antioxidant-packed moisturiser for increased anti-ageing benefits. As with all Vitamin A products, start with applying Retinol Fusion PM every other night, and then gradually building up to every night. If your skin has not experienced any peeling or redness, then you can easily begin to use on a nightly basis.
Verdict:
Peter Thomas Roth's Retinol Fusion PM provides great, and almost instant results! After 1 week, my skin was smoother, my skin tone is more even and discolourations are fading. I have switched to using a tinted moisturiser because I don't feel that I need any more coverage. It is also great that I bypassed the redness, peeling and excessive oil production that some retinol products can cause. Overall, I have seen a great improvement is my skin-tone and my skin looks more radaint, supple and youthful. Highly recommened and a great investment!
