Review Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Acid 10% Moisturizer

What is it:A skin-refining moisturizer with advanced, deeply renewing action. The added aloe vera and antioxidants nourish and protect the skin.

What is it formulated to do: Advanced deep skin renewing action increases cell turnover to help diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging. Reduces excess oiliness and helps clarify the skin and smooth out rough texture, leaving it refined and revitalized.

Ingredients: Water, Glycolic Acid, Arginine, Whole Leaf Aloe Vera, Glyceryl Stearate, Peg-100 Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Safflower Seed Oil, Emulsifying Wax, Dimethicone, Squalane, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Retinyl Palmitate (Micellized Vitamin A), Tocopheryl Acetate (Micellized Vitamin E), Oleth-2, Polysorbate 20, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Disodium Edta, Diazolidinyl Urea

Usage: Skin should be clean and free of irritation. Apply a very thin layer to clean non-irritated skin every other night for two weeks. After two weeks, apply a very thin layer to clean skin every night. After one month of use, you may apply a very thin layer to clean, non-irritated skin for use during the day and night. Allow ten minutes for the product to absorb and follow, if needed, with prescribed moisturizer at night and prescribed sunscreen during the day.

Review:AHA's are exfoliants as they remove the dead skin cells that collect on the surface of the skin, revealing the soft, smooth skin underneath. In addition to effectively exfoliating the skin, AHA's also stimulate skin repair, increase collagen production, improve elasticity, skin texture and skin tone, decrease enlarged pores and are also an effective acne treatment. So why is an exfoliant necessary? Skin naturally sheds billion of skin cells every day. When natural shedding slows, or stops, due to sun damage, dry skin, oily skin, or simple genetics, you're left with dull, dry, flaky skin, clogged pores, blemishes, white bumps and uneven skin tone. So, without question, everyone can benefit from daily use of a well formulate AHA, such as the Glycolic Acid 10% Moisturizer. Peter Thomas Roth's Glycolic Acid 10% Moisturizer ($40.90) is an ideal AHA moisturizer for sun damaged and dry skin, because the glycolic acid exfoliates the surface of the skin and has the added benefit of also improving moisture content in the skin. Oily and acne prone skin types will also benefit from using this product, particularly in the colder and drier winter months, when even the oiliest skin can experience surface dryness. Peter Thomas Roth's Glycolic Acid 10% Moisturizer also contains Vitamins A and E, which are great antioxidants that help to protect the skin from further damage. The added aloe vera can be credited for the soothing the skin, so even sensitive skin-types will benefit from using this product.

Glycolic Acid 10% Moisturizer is packaged in an opaque tube, which will keep all the ingredients stable, and a pea-size amount is enough to moisturize the entire face. So a little product definitely goes a long way, and at $40.90 for 63g, this product is great value for money! To prevent irritation, start by using this moisturiser every few nights, so that your skin can build up tolerance to the 10% glycolic acid. You may experience some slight tingling after the first few applications, however, it subsides very quickly and is not uncomfortable in any way. Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Acid 10% Moisturizer can be used twice a day, however, because AHA increases the skin's sensitivity to the sun, it is best to use this moisturiser at night. You will still experience amazing results by using this product only at night, however, ensure diligent application of sunscreen when using this product. Peter Thomas Roth's Glycolic Acid 10% Moisturizer has a very elegant formula, and its light and non-greasy formula is absorbed very quickly (refer to images below). For extremely dry skin, follow with a hydrating moisturiser, especially in the colder months. It can also be used in conjunction with a retinol product, which will aid in reversing sun damaged and ageing skin. For excellent results, pair with Peter Thomas Roth's Retinol Fusion PM, reviewed here.

Verdict: Peter Thomas Roth's Glycolic Acid 10% Moisturizer provides freat results, and overnight! By the next morning, you will have a healthy glow and skin appears refreshed and brighter, is flake-free and it looks and feels smooth. I have used many AHA products but without good results. They are either too strong, which made my skin peel, or not strong enough. Peter Thomas Roth's Glycolic Acid 10% Moisturizer contains the perfect glycolic acid concentration, thus exfoliating without the irritation and peeling, which can take days to heal. With persistent nightly use you will definitely see a great improvement in your skin's condition. You will notice clarity, smoothness and a more even skin tone, as well as a reduction in the appearance of sun spots and large pores. Your skin will feel more hydrated and firm and this definitely shows. Overall, I am very impressed with this product, its simple ingredients list and elegant light and non-greasy formula. Peter Thomas Roth's Glycolic Acid 10& Moisturizer makes skin look refreshed, brighter and it gives a great healthy glow, and that's all before even applying any makeup!

Review:
Clinique's Even Better Clinical Skin Tone Corrector ($64.20) is formulated with a blend of 5 ingredients that collectively are labelled as CL-302 complex. The blend of 5 natural ingredients consists of exotic plant extracts, along with salicylic acid, Vitamin C and black yeast. As with all other Clinique products, it is Allergy Tested, 100% Fragrance Free, Oil-Free, Non-Acnegenic, Dermatologist Tested and Ophthalmologist Tested.

This is a wonderful moisturiser for those with combination - oily skin looking for a light-weight moisturiser. This product is also suitable for sensitive skin, thanks to its fragrance-free formula and skin soothing ingredients. It is also suitable for dry skin as a serum used under your daily sunscreen and nightly moisturiser. I would like to point out that I do not have pigmentation or hyper-pigmenation, I do however have some freckles along the bridge of my nose. Clinique's Even Better Clinical Skin Tone Corrector did not lighten my freckles but it did leave my skin soft, moistursied and more even-toned. It has also faded some recent blemishes from picking at pimples. You will experience great results from using Clinique's Even better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector, notably smooth, radiant, brighter and even-toned skin, however, those with hyperpigmentation issues should consider a product with hydroquinione. For optimal and visible results, it is also highly recommened that you pair this product with an AHA/BHA or a Retinol product at night. Overall, for those of us wanting brighter, radiant and even-toned skin, this product will deliver!

Product Review | Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM

What is it:

A potent retinol serum that delivers skin-renewing benefits via concentrated encapsulated retinol at 1.5% along with Vitamins C and E to moisturise and fight free radicals for maximum results with minimal irritation.

What is it formulated to do:

This technologically advanced combination of encapsulated retinol, and vitamins C and E, encourages the skin's renewal process with prime efficacy. It helps improve skin tone and texture, assists in collagen production, and reduces fine lines and wrinkles to create a vibrantly youthful and healthy complexion. The addition of Vitamin C and E minimizes redness and irritation, and mitigates the retinol's drying effects.

Ingredients:

CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, SQUALANE, RETINOL, ASCORBYL PALMITATE, TOCOPHEROL, WATER (AQUA), PENTYLENE GLYCOL, POLYSORBATE 20, LECITHIN, BISABOLOL, ALCOHOL.

Usage: Shake well. Apply nightly to cleansed face. Use SPF protection during the day. If mild irritation or redness occur, use every other night until skin adjusts. Gradually build to nightly use. Best suited for normal to dry skin.

Review:

Peter Thomas Roth's Retinol Fusion PM ($63.20) is formulated with a high concentration of Vitamin A but because the Vitamin A is encapsulated, the retinol is released slowly and you therefore don't experience the dryness and irritation that Vitamin A products can cause. So you are still getting maximum anti-ageing benefits, without the tell-tale horrible peeling the day after.Retinol Fusion PM is packaged in an opaque jar (which will protect the ingredients from sunlight) and comes with a dropper, is a clear liquid and has an almost water-like consistency. The dropper houses a lot of product, so care is required when applying the product. The best way to apply is by ensuring that there is only a small amount of product in the dropper before fully taking the dropper out of the bottle. With Peter Thomas Roth's Retinol Fusion PM, a little definitely goes a long way! So use spraringly, and the 30ml bottle will last 3 months.

Because of its water-like consistency, after application your face will feel very oily, however, the product is absorbed almost immediately. You can then follow with your regular night time moisturzier, such as an antioxidant-packed moisturiser for increased anti-ageing benefits. As with all Vitamin A products, start with applying Retinol Fusion PM every other night, and then gradually building up to every night. If your skin has not experienced any peeling or redness, then you can easily begin to use on a nightly basis.

Verdict:

Peter Thomas Roth's Retinol Fusion PM provides great, and almost instant results! After 1 week, my skin was smoother, my skin tone is more even and discolourations are fading. I have switched to using a tinted moisturiser because I don't feel that I need any more coverage. It is also great that I bypassed the redness, peeling and excessive oil production that some retinol products can cause. Overall, I have seen a great improvement is my skin-tone and my skin looks more radaint, supple and youthful. Highly recommened and a great investment!
